Dancing in Arles!

On May 16, Kathleen participated in her final dance competition of the year. This time the event was in Arles and she did her classique solo that always makes me cry. One thing that made this competition unique was that Kathleen’s dance teacher decided to enroll in the group portion of the jazz event so there were a few other girls (in addition to the usual suspects Tiffanie and Juliet) from the studio who joined us for the day…one of those girls was Lucie! Lucie and Kathleen do jazz together on Friday evenings and their teacher, Kat, wanted their group of seven girls to compete. Kathleen enjoyed having Lucie along and showing her the ropes of the competition. Bucky and Hannah joined us as well so we spent the entire day dancing and watching dancing ‘en famille’ in Arles. Kathleen did a wonderful job on her solo and she received a silver medal, the highest she has received so far! When it was time for the group to dance, I was nervous because I had never seen them perform and I had two daughters out there! They did a fabulous job and impressed us all, including the judges. The group was also awarded a silver medal and was told that they received the highest score in their category! We were all very happy and proud!! A great way to end the competitions for now!
