A week ago Sunday, Eygalieres stepped back in time to the 1800s...townsfolk were dressed in elaborate apparel and set up market stalls where they peddled their 19th century wares...There was a beekeeper hawking his honey, a woman selling fresh vegetables and a farmer with live rabbits and chickens and geese. A farrier was outside of our gate shoeing horses. There was also a woman (dressed like the Flying Nun!) who in a classroom straight from 'Little House on the Prairie' that she had set up outside of the library. The mood in town was subdued and tranquil, far different from other fetes we have experienced in Eygalieres. We spent some time wandering the streets, observing the people and taking lots of pictures. We had lunch at the Cafe Progres and pretended to go back in time...a magical Sunday in Eygalieres.

The "teacher" and another townswoman...

The vegetable vendor...

Some of the animals...

The classroom in front of the bibliotheque...

Some fine gentlemen...

A tired maiden and her faithful friend...

Music while we dined...

Everyone enjoyed the accordian...

A rustic scene...

Checking out the fresh flour and rice (we bought some of course!)...

This is an everyday occurence, but the picture was so quaint I couldn't resist...

More animals....

Olives...

Our friend, Marceau, enchanted by the day...
