A weekend chez Chateau Defaix

Last weekend, we spent a wonderful couple of days with our dear friends, the Defaixs, in their beautiful home outside of Lyon. The city was covered in snow so the first thing the girls did when we got there (after greeting Josepha with joy and then exchanging silly bands) was to don some borrowed cold weather gear, and go sledding! The parents were wise and stayed by the fire with a glass of wine. It was fun listening to the girls squeal as they flew down the hill, huff and puff and chat as they climbed back up and then squeal again on their next ride down. I took a few pictures from the dining room window but wasn't able to get any action shots with my iPhone... At least you can get the idea!

We spent most of the weekend just hanging out with our friends, talking about life and enjoying each others' company. It was nice having Lea and Pablo around too so that we got a chance to visit with them. Emmanuelle and Gilles prepared wonderful meals for us all and we spent lots of time around the table visiting. The parents went into the city on Sunday morning for a flea market which was totally fabulous. I wanted to buy everything, but resisted. It sure was fun to window shop and dream!

The big news from the Defaixs and the weekend was that they are in the process of buying a new house and selling their current one. They took us to see their new one and it is really cool. It is modern, sleek and open and totallly different from the house they live in now. Change is good and it will be fun for them to make it their own. I am sure it will be magazine-worthy once they get their stylish hands on it! Can't wait to go visit them when they are all moved it! We did, however, enjoy spending our last weekend at Chateau Defaix. Lots of good times were had there and there are lots more to come I feel sure!
