We celebrated Thanksgiving in international style this year...we invited the Tossens family from Belgium and the Nugan family from Australia, and served two French turkeys, plus all of the trimmings many of which had been hand carried to Eygalieres by my mom from the States! Preparing a Thanksgiving meal for thirteen in my not-so-well-equipped kitchen (think camping) was challenging but well worth it. The fresh turkeys, that we got from a butcher in Avignon thanks to the help of our foodie friends and Bucky's improving French skills, were fabulous. Everyone raved about the stufffing; the mashed potatoes were devoured and the peas and brussel sprouts were even enjoyed by most! I made and served my first pumpkin pie ever and it was a big hit! Our friends brought the wine and champagne so there was plenty of that to go around...We started our meal at 1 in the afternoon and were still at the table at 10 at night so you can imagine the fun we had! Lots of laughter and story telling, plenty of translating and gesturing, and many many thanks for our friends and family.
