Good Times: Tutu & Auntie Kay Kay Come for a Visit

My mom and sister spent 10 days with us in Eygalieres recently and we had a wonderful visit. We spent time showing Kate the places we had visited with her sons, Hamer and Canham, when my parents brought them to France a few years ago. We tried to go see Van Gogh’s room at the hospital in St. Remy, but it was closed. We did go into the little chapel there and showed Kate the Van Gogh paintings that are on the campus. We also wanted to go to Bistro du Paradou (my mom’s favorite lunch spot), but it was closed too! So, we tried other spots instead. The idea that every place was closed became our running joke, but it was more accurate than we had guessed…apparently lots of places are closed for the month of January! Luckily, there are lots of cute shops open and Kate loves to shop, so we did lots of that!

My mom, Kate and I also took the TGV to Lyon for the day and I showed them where we lived in Croix Rousse, walked through some traboules, ate at our favorite pizza joint, Pizza Pino, and visited Emmanuelle and Gilles at their studio. It was a wonderful day! While they were here, we had a number of wonderful meals, mostly lunches, at various restaurants, including one of my mom’s favorites in the village of Gordes. We also had a walking tour of Isle sur la Sorgue with our friend, Brigitte Audibert, and then went to her home for coffee and king cake…very French! We made sure that my mom and Kate ate lots of croissants and beaucoup de baguette and drank lots of wine! Good times!! (Thanks to mom for co-authoring this blog and for most of the pictures!!)
