A day at the beach

A couple of weekends ago, we decided to spend a day at the beach. The coast is about an hour away by car, and there are lots of beaches to choose from. The day before our adventure, Bucky and I pulled out our travel books (a rarity) and searched for a family-friendly beach. We discovered a few...Sausset-les-Pins, La Couronne and La Ciotat. We decided to try Sausset-les-Pins since it was the closest to us. We headed out at about 10 in the morning with beach gear, a picnic and TomTom to help us get there. We found the beach easily enough, but it looked like the beach was only rocks so we decided to keep going along the coast to see if we could find sand. We followed signs to La Couronne and found a parking lot full of families unloading beach stuff. We couldn't see the beach from where we were, but decided to take a chance and follow the lead of the French families who were there already, and head down to the beach. It was beautiful! The beach was sandy, the water was blue and the weather was gorgeous. We set up camp, slathered ourselves in sunscreen and enjoyed a wonderful day at the beach.

The view from the parking lot...we were hoping for sand!

The view from our towels...people watching was ideal!
