An event in Eygalieres

To bid winter farewell and welcome spring, the Eygalieres elementary school students had a carnival! It is a tradition where the children come dressed in costume, parade through the town and then “burn winter” in a bonfire at the field in front of the school. Apparently, winter comes in a different form each year...and this year it was an octopus. (Last year apparently, it was a witch.) The Walls were unsure about the entire event, but Kathleen knew that some of her friends would be participating, so she wanted to do the same. Before heading out, we pulled out all of our dress-ups and she decided to go as a Greek goddess kind of thing with Venetian mask to boot. Lucie went as a teenager and complained the first half hour we were there as we waited for the event to begin. Lucie ended up going home before the parade started, but Bucky and I followed Kathleen and the group around with cameras witnessing this interesting tradition with the other locals. It was definitely an event!
