Chapelle Saint Sixte

Every year, France celebrates the "Journees du Patrimoine" which is a weekend when the country's heritage is honored...museums and churches and other places that pay tribute to France's rich heritage are opened to the public free of charge. Some of the sites that you can visit are rarely open to the public, including the Chapelle Saint Sixte which is located right outside of Eygalieres. We have driven by the little church a million times, but we had never gone inside until this weekend. The church was built in the 12th century and rests up on a rocky knoll. It exudes history and beauty and France...It is often the subject of photographs, paintings and postcards and seems to epotimize the quaintness of our lovely little town in Provence. It was an honor to visit the Chapelle Saint Sixte.
