Last week, I noticed a poster plastered around town that advertised a free musical "spectacle" or show that was to take place in our Place on Sunday. When we heard people gathering outside on Sunday afternoon, we headed out to see what the deal was...we were surprised to find a gang of men and women, clothed in cloaks and twigs with bizarre instruments in hand. The leader of the pack announced that the group was "
L'Orielle aux
murs" (or ear of the walls - which we actually thought was sort of cool!) and that they were going to tell a story, traipsing through town while playing their unique music-makers and we (the flabbergasted crowd watching) were supposed to follow them.
Obediently, the four of us did so. Of course the girls were a bit hesitant, but went along since it allowed them to postpone their homework for at least a little while! We followed the group up to the church, not really paying full attention to what the "actors" were saying, but enjoying the walk and the people-watching immensely. Eventually, we all got bored of the strange performance and headed back down to our house, but agreed it was interesting...definitely another unique French experience!
