Mont Ventoux, the largest mountain in Provence, has been on our “to visit” list since we arrived in France. We finally made it to the looming, barren peak last month while Tutu was visiting. My mom, an avid map reader, wanted to navigate the way there sans Tomtom and Bucky supported her so off we went with Bucky at the wheel and mom behind the map. After a successful trek to the base of the mountain thanks to Tutu’s keen navigating skills, we headed up the hill with excitement, noting numerous bikers and lots of graffiti on the road that we assumed were words of encouragement for bikers. Apparently, Mont Ventoux is a popular biking challenge and is often a highlight of the Tour de France. We were happy to be climbing the hill sitting in a car instead of pumping away on a bike, but we were impressed with the athletes we passed on the way up! We finally arrived at the summit, donned our jackets because it was freezing (in fact, there was still snow on the ground!) and quickly took a few obligatory pictures. On the way down the mountain, we stopped at a restaurant for crepes and a beverage, and discussed how happy we were that we had come and that we had seen one more thing on our list!

Lucie, Tutu and Kathleen at the summit...
