Old friends

Recently we had a wonderful visit with my mom's best friend from college and her family. Ceci and my mom met each other in gym class (mom in an Army sweatshirt and Ceci in a Navy one!) at Beaver College almost 50 years ago and they remain friends today. As a teenager, Ceci came to Provence to live with her family for an adventure similar to what we have done the past two years! She then went on to meet, fall in love with and marry a Frenchmen, Didier Sartor, so their French story continued.

Ceci and Didier have three grown children. They were travelling this summer with their daughter, Ashley, her husband and two kids. The six of them spent some time near Nice, visiting family and enjoying the south of France. Since Eygalieres is only a couple of hours away, they decided to head our way for a visit. We were thrilled to have them join us for a wonderful lunch together chez Wall.

I decided to prepare a simple meal with things from our garden so I made my first quiche ever with eggs from our chickens and zucchini and onions from Bucky's garden. We also had roasted potatoes from the garden, and a fresh salad, plus fig crumble with figs from our giant tree for dessert!! And of course we had lots and lots of rose wine!!

After lunch, we wandered through our village and stopped for a cool drink at the Cafe de la Place. We talked about how amazing it was that we were together in this little village in France and how happy that we had made it happen. It is a very nice memory for everyone.
