A red letter day

Today we had success in many areas...We took the metro and met Emmanuelle at the Place Bellecour branch of the BNP Bank. She had graciously offered to help us open our banking account, and boy did we need it! The appointment was about an hour and a half long and full of lots of paperwork and translations! We ended up with a basic checking account and we are awaiting the checks and debit card. Strangely enough, we could not deposit any money into the account until we receive the debit card, so our banking account is empty at this point. I hope it doesn't get to use to that state of affairs!!

After bidding farewell to our private secretary (the wonderful Emmanuelle) for the day, we had a lovely lunch at a pizzeria in Place Bellecour. The pizza was delicious - Bucky even said it was the best pizza he has ever had! We then headed to Orange to get my iphone up and running on a French contract. After much ado (I had to really get into some conversations a la francaise!) we got my iphone up and going and also a cool mobile for the girls to share. We've had numerous discussions about mobile phones for the girls and have decided that they will share a phone for the time being. The phone they got has a touch screen and a full key pad and comes with all of the bells and whistles tweens want. Their phone number is 06 48523945. My new number is 06 48767155.

The one other thing we wanted to do today was to buy a garbage can. Yes, that sounds easy enough, but it is not. We searched high and low yesterday, but couldn't find one any bigger than a shoebox. That isn't totally true, we found a couple of larger ones, but they cost a fortune, so we resisted. Today, we just went for it! We really needed a bigger garbage can in our little apartment, so we got this fire engine red one that we will strap to our backs and haul to Eygalieres! I read somewhere recently that you should only have things that you need or that bring you joy...Well, this garbage can is a double whammy - we needed it and it brings me joy!

The garbage can - don't you love the color?!

The girls' phone - they wanted to make sure the full keyboard was showing.
